Abstract

The purpose of this study is to devolop a desirable preceptorship program for nursing students. A questionnaire used to collect the data was consist of the four-parts in as were desirable standard of career, appropriate rewards, educational program to qualify preceptor and demographic information involved. Respondents were composed of 41 professors and 181 clinical nurses then total was as 222 ones. The data was analyzed by spss PC+ program.

The major findings are as ffollows

1. In respondents, for the question of desirable academic career for preceptor, 44.8% of clinical nurses have a favor to bachelor¢¥s degree and 34.8% of the ones have a favor to college diploma. But 43.9% of professors have a favor to bachelor¢¥s degree, 41.5% of the ones have a favor to master¢¥s degree.

2. For the question of desirable clinical career for preceptor, answers on the ¢¥over 3 years¢¥ get the highest portion of 86.1%, 70.7% in the nurses and professors respectively.

3. About the qualification of preceptor, it¢¥s priority was estimated ordered as skilled clinical practice, interest and will on the education, professionalism
and leadership and good personality.

4. In case of answer to the rewards of the preceptors, the extrinsic rewads same as consideration of working hours, formal accreditation, opportunity for special education, personal benefit and participation in the evaluation of students, were prior to tangilble rewards.

5. Meanwhile, revealed answer to the question of the time required for educational program, both professors and clinical nurses have a great favor to 4 hours a day for 2 days. And to the question of educational contents, in case of clinical nurses, it¢¥s priority was estimated and ordered as the problem solving method, personal interaction, communication skill, role and responsibility as an educator. But in professors, the priority answered ordered as the role and responsibility as an educator, the philosophy and goal of education and problem solving method.
